In the early days, our pioneers heard each other out. They studied both sides of an issue before making any decisions. There was fairness in the process.

If we earnestly pray for the Holy Spirit and are not immovably bound to our own ideas, God will lead us into unity in our understanding of Scripture. Many people wonder whether the ordination of women is important enough to risk splitting the church. They are asking important questions such as:

  • What, if anything, does the Bible have to say about the ordination of women?
  • Does it matter how we interpret the Bible?
  • Was Paul’s counsel limited to a certain time, place, and culture?
  • Must women keep silent in church?
  • Should each division of the world church decide the issue of women’s ordination for their territory?
  • What is the secret to our unity as a world church?

This timely book addresses these questions and more in a reader-friendly way, backed by solid scholarship.

Finally a straight forward Biblically proven answer!

The best part about this book is the way the Whalen's used Scripture, history and language comprehension in such a thorough manner. I have read other books, but this book is by far the most comprehensive and all encompassing. I even had a 'discussion' with our pastor (who supports W.O.) and it was as if Clinton already knew all the points he would be discussing!

I'm one of the local elders in my church and needed something to read in order to get myself up to speed on what is happening to our church and the issues we are facing. I found the above book by E. Prewit an excellent, well reasoned presentaion of the Bible facts. I am very concerned for our church. It seems that we're downward trending I still can't process the fact that the leaders in the union I'm a part of along with conference leaders have decided to actually REBEL against the advice of our General Conference in (2) sessions, and the votes against this issue. What an example to our people, not to mention our youth. Glad to get some real light on this issue and not so much heat. I'm passing the book around to each elder, our pastor is already sold on women ordination.

Much Needed Resource!

A clear, concise, and compelling treatment of a controversial issue. Simple language, unobstructed by scholarly jargon or convoluted philosophical opinions and conjectures. Its brevity does not compromise depth of thought. Finally a timely resource that addresses the key issues and questions in regards to women's ordination. A welcome combination of biblical thoroughness and relational sensitivity, held together by a rare measure of common sense. I wished I had written it!
