The Sign of Jonah (PB) by Doug Batchelor

The Jewish leaders demanded from Jesus a sign that He was the Christ—but instead, Jesus likened His ministry to the story of Jonah. This spiritually enriching book highlights the importance of this strange but remarkable story and gives clarity to both the story of Jonah and to the death and resurrection of Christ.

  • Is the story of Jonah a factual event or a fictional parable?
  • What did three days and three nights mean to the Jews and Jesus’ crucifixion?
  • What did do the words “heart of the earth” mean?
  • What are the hidden spiritual connections between Jesus and Jonah?

It was just what I needed! It explained everything and took away all the confusion. Thank you, Doug! I also bought one for a friend who was also confused and she was blessed too.

Graphics & title are perfect.

Reading this booklet helped me understand Matthew 12:38-40. It went directly to the point of what Jesus meant when comparing His three days and three nights with Jonah's three days and three nights. It also clarified the 'the heart of the earth' phrase and other misunderstood scriptures comparing Jesus life and death with the events of Jonah's life. This booklet incorporates the easy-to-understand, Scripture-supported, down-to earth style that for over ten years I have come to appreciate and anticipate in Doug Batchelor's materials.

Excellent biblical study

This in depth study comparing the symbolism in Jonah's experience to Jesus' ministry was especially helpful to me in its explanation of what being "in the heart of the earth" meant to Jesus.

Wish you had sent the DVD promised

I have had this book before and it is very good. Seeing how Jonah is a type of Christ was interesting. I was supposed to get the DVD, what happened?

The Most Successful Prophet!

We all have a race we are running in life, with many of us heading the wrong direction. Try as we might, we often find that we are in reality running away from our Heavenly Father's leading. Despite all of Jonah's efforts to put on his track shoes and go the other way, in the end, he became the Bible's most successful prophet, due to his act of submission to God, the loving Father of all!

As a teacher of Adult SS Class I found it helpful with down to earth insights into a somewhat challenging lesson. I also thought it was helpful in dealing with non believers who have a brief knowledge of the story of Jonah to help them with a more realistic understanding of just what took place with the big 'fish'. It is a handy little book to share.

Doug Batchelor

Doug BatchelorAs a teenager, Doug Batchelor had everything money could buy—everything but happiness. His search led him to drugs, fights, and suicidal fantasies. Convinced that life held no purpose, he soon found himself scavenging food from garbage bins and living in a cave in the hills above Palm Springs.

The happiness Doug wanted eluded him until the day he began reading the dust-covered Bible someone had left in his cave. What happened next can only be described as a miracle! Today, Pastor Doug is president of Amazing Facts, an international multimedia ministry, and can be seen and heard around the world on television and radio programs such as Central Study Hour, Amazing Facts Presents, and Bible Answers Live.

Doug's down-to-earth approach to living the Christian life stems from his own experiences. He is an energetic man of vision and deep spirituality with an unusual ability to communicate not only to church members, but also to the millions of secular-minded people of today. He is the author of dozens of books, including, The Richest Caveman, Caveman Theology, Shadows of Light, Broken Chains, and At Jesus’ Feet .
