“Beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27).
It is a common misconception that Jesus only appears in the New Testament. Yet Pastor Doug Batchelor, president of Amazing Facts, reveals that Jesus actually appears many times in the Old Testament— sometimes in person, yes, but most often in types and shadows as seen in the amazing stories and lives of Old Testament characters.
Some of these types of Christ, these shadows of light, are obvious, such as when Abraham placed the wood on the back of his beloved son Isaac, who then carried it up the hill to the place of his own willing sacrifice. Or when the prophet Elisha, like Jesus, performed a miracle multiplying bread to feed his disciples, even providing leftovers. But sometimes, finding the shadows of Jesus in the Word of God requires a more careful examination.
Jesus said that the Scriptures “testify of Me” (John 5:39). With a little help, you can also discover the golden thread of a Savior woven through the entire Bible tapestry. Shadows of Light is one of the most enriching spiritual journeys you’ll ever experience, a Bible study that will increase your confidence in the Book of Books and grow your faith with every chapter.

Reading this helped me to look deeper and deeper into the scriptures to see the parallels between bible characters and the life of Jesus. Wonderful read.
First, I purposed to deeply study this topic for myself so I was happy to see that an entire book has been written about Jesus. Moreover, one of the book for AFCOE students! Second I have had my first sermon the following Sabbath after I received the book, and as my topic was the Emmaus road, the book has been a blessing
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this material. It has opened new avenues of exploration.
I've read more scholarly approaches which I did appreciate this work would both satisfy the layman and scholar.Recommended.
As always Bro. Batchelor's book deepens the walk with Jesus. Just when I think I have a knowledge of a subject I find more tidbits and gems from Bro. Batchelor! This is a great self study tool, and I think it would make a good small group study as well.
Just started reading. Love the many ways Jesus is portrayed in the Old Testament. Hoping to use this as a tool to dialogue with Jewish friends.
One of the best books I have read lately. I read about 20 books per year. This is the best one I have read so far.
A great book to see Christ in the old testament and to learn more about who He is. What a wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord!
This book has brought me a better understanding of the old testament showing the Lord Jesus in all the books of the Bible.
Having this book is like having a time travel machine that allows you to track every footsteps that Jesus made since the beginning of time up to the present, and will give u a glimpse of where Jesus next steps will be in the future. It literally gives you a clear vision of why the Bible is Jesus's autobiography. This book made me appreciate Jesus and His words in the bible even more. It made me think and understand even more why Jesus is THE LIVING BREATHING WORD... He is indeed seen and interwoven in all the beautiful tapestry of the great characters in the Bible. Need I say more? Find out for yourself why this book is "off the hook", (outstanding/cool), but at the same time meaningful and insightful. I highly recommend it! God bless us!
