The inspiring and riveting story of long-term missionaries to the Peruvian jungles—their challenges, soul-winning, and answered prayers!
With a daily prayer, "Make me a blessing to someone today," Siegfried and Evelyn Neuendorff watched the film Savage Fire, which told the story of an Adventist missionary among the Campa Indians of Nevati in the Peruvian jungles, a missionary fire ignited in their hearts. So they decided to be part of the missionary team in Peru. To see the house burned by a wicked witch doctor, to witness the desperate escape to the mission of a condemned-to-die man because of the curse of a magician, to navigate in a dugout canoe on the rivers exposed to the dangers of the jungles, and to travel in the Highlands, together aided their decision to choose Peru as their mission destination.
Their decision required a radical change in their lives and their life goals and plans, but they placed all into the Lord's hands, fully permitting His guiding hand to shepherd them. With the intention to stay only five years, they left as volunteer missionaries and were accompanied by then three-year-old Eileen. The five years eventually extended to more than twenty years, during which the Neuendorffs not only added son Harold to their family, but they also enjoyed the enchantments of the jungles, the coastal region, and the highlands of Peru, becoming successful soul winners for Jesus.
